Since I missed out on the BAP this year I thought I would pose the question now as we head into the finals. Both Team and Individual what are your BAP’s?
February 20, 2018 at 1:19 pm #3246
Wildcats will wrestle in the Wings Ctr on Saturday AFTERNOON !!
February 20, 2018 at 3:13 pm #3247
Facundo over Davenport (team states) and Facundo over Amine the following weekend!
February 20, 2018 at 3:22 pm #3248
That’s the second time in a week I have heard Facundo beats Amine at Ford Field.
I just don’t see how that is feasible….??!?!?
Amine is a BEAST, but I guess we’ll see !
This much I know, it will be an AMAZING match to watch !
And also, I’d bet a fine cigar that the starting weight at Ford Field on Saturday afternoon will be 160 !!
Funny how that works, huh ?!?!?
February 20, 2018 at 3:38 pm #3253
That’s why its a BAP! calling one of the matches in Facundo’s favor isn’t too bold but to say he gets the opportunity and knocks off both is a different story.
I agree with you 100% on the starting weight for Saturday afternoon!
February 20, 2018 at 3:30 pm #3249
The starting weight is 103. Was posted on Monday. Good thing you didnt bet anyone.
I have 2 BAP’s
Team: New Lothrup meets Hudson in the finals again.
Individual: Division 2 will not have ANY undefeated State Champs.
February 20, 2018 at 3:31 pm #3250
Starting weight is 103, but yeah 160 would have worked great. I don’t think they care since all medals ceremonies are being done after the last match, so everybody has to stay.
February 20, 2018 at 3:33 pm #3251
That’s what I love about Wrestlers – ALWAYS HONEST !!!!
Alright – Then I’ll switch my wager and bet on Amine….same fine cigar !!
Any takers ?!?

I’m all on that Oxfordad. I’ll find you prior to discuss further.
February 21, 2018 at 1:16 pm #3265
That’s the second one !!
As confident as y’all are, maybe I better buy a box of stogies !!!?!?
I’ll be sitting in the Oxford section in Kalamazoo Friday AND Saturday 😉
March 5, 2018 at 9:20 am #3355
I hope you picked up that box of stogies on your way to Ford Field Saturday. LOL
Great match between Facundo and Amine. I liked the ref hitting them both for stalling in the first period.
March 5, 2018 at 9:28 am #3356
Yeah – I saw that one coming when I saw Facundo in action this weekend !!
That dude is smooth as silk and REALLY talented !!
Watching those two march through the bracket and square off was worth the price of admission.
If I owe you a cigar, you know how to find me !!
ps – Pretty great weekend, all-in-all.
My only real complaint was the hard seats and high concession prices.
Both were incredibly bad !!
I thought the set up was way better than I would have guessed and they did a great job, considering the enormity of the venue.

I had the pleasure of working as a timer/scorer for the Amine/Facundo match. Best seat in the house, and great to listen to each corner.
Sorry I missed you OxPappy….I did look for you.
March 5, 2018 at 3:26 pm #3362
Sorry I missed you, bud !
I was on the floor for the Semis, but didn’t wanna push my luck for the Finals, so I stayed put !
It is a WHOLE ‘NOTHER MATCH when you’re that close to the action and can here stategery !!
Have a great Summer y’all !!
Hit ’em straight, smoke ’em if ya got ’em and have all the fun there is !!
They roll out the mats in a mere 8-9 months !!
March 5, 2018 at 3:40 pm #3364
Heck I worked Mat 8 (D1) Semis……wish I would have known you were down there.
See you when I see you, OxPaP

Yes great match. Facundo is really really good.
Ford Field was fine. I think they made the best of what can be done. Of course improvements need to be made. Nothing we can do about he seats, knew that would be uncomfortable. Of course the food prices were high, but they allowed re-entry, so it did allow to leave and eat at a restaurant or hotel.
Great warm up area a lot of room for coaches and wrestlers!
If we stay or go to LCA I will be ok with it. Not sure their are any better solutions, having it Battle Creek or Kalamazoo or a high school gym will not work.

I didn’t sit in the stands until towards the end, but I asked people about it. A couple things that should change from a fans perspective:
Move the mats further away from the walls. The reason being in you are up higher, you can’t see the closer mats. Those in the front rows see them just fine, but if they just lean a bit forward (not even stand up), people behind cannot see. They have plenty of room to make it work.
Make larger CLOCKS! Why not use flat screens like all other tournaments do, so people can see the clocks! Heck, I was on the floor and couldn’t make out clocks 4-5 mats away.
For the coaches:
Have an area on the main floor for coaches so they don’t have to run back in the stands and then back to the floor. At the Palace this wasn’t much of a big deal, but at Ford it is.
Other than that, I though everything was great. I know the wrestlers loved it.

All good points and good ideas Holtfan. I do like the idea of letting coaching and wrestlers stand in 1 area (for the waiting area) by their division mats. The way they had it set up D2 and D3 could watch from the waiting area, but if you were D1 and D4 no chance to see the mats.
